New actors are needed to raise the construction capacity

The property sector gathers in Gothenburg on 11-12 September at the new meeting place Nordic Property Expo. Meanwhile, the region is in the middle of a historic period of rapid development. But in order for the planned development pace to continue, more construction capacity is required, explains Business Region Göteborg’s Andreas Göthberg

“We know that EUR 100 billion will be invested in the Gothenburg region between 2016 and 2035. We believe that more actors within construction and urban development are needed to keep the development on schedule,” says Andreas Göthberg, head of FDI at Business Region Göteborg.

Together with colleagues from Business Region Göteborg, he is manning the stand B10:11 at Nordic Property Expo.

“We are here to showcase both what is going on in the region, and that we can offer help to companies that are interested in setting up here. There are excellent opportunities for both actors within urban development and investors.”

Why is it important for the region that new actors enter the market?

“It’s a capacity issue. There are very big projects in Gothenburg that are currently underway that require huge amounts of the sector’s capacity. There many housing projects and several large office projects as well as huge infrastructure projects,” says Andreas Göthberg.

“And if the development pace is to continue as planned, it’s going to require higher construction capacity in Gothenburg. This can happen either via growth of existing companies or that new actors enter the market.”

Nordic PropertyExpo is a new exhibition, conference and investment forum all in one. The event is held at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre. Business Region Göteborg is a collaboration partner.
