Geely’s long-term developments in Gothenburg were in focus when representatives from the City of Gothenburg, Chalmers, the University of Gothenburg and the Port of Gothenburg visited Geely’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China.
The visit was part of the programme when Gothenburg and Shanghai renewed their city sister agreement, in China in late May.
Anne-Sofie Hermansson, the mayor of Gothenburg, led the delegation as discussions with, among others Geely’s CEO and Cevt’s chairperson Mr An, were held on the company’s experience of investing in Sweden and Gothenburg.
Access to engineers and Gothenburg’s attractiveness were a few of the key topics raised by Mr An.
“The main aim of the visit was to deepen our relationship with Geely and to discuss future investment possibilities,” says Henrik Einarsson, head of the establishment and investment department at Business Region Göteborg.
A result of the meeting was that Mr An is invited to meet with City of Gothenburg leaders the next time he visits the city.
During the past year, Business Region Göteborg has worked intensively with Geely, which has expanded its activities in Gothenburg
“It has been a developing process for both parties,” says Henrik Einarsson.
Gothenburg is important for Geely. Its R&D company Cevt has grown rapidly and its new car brand, Lynk&Co, has been developed at Lindholmen.
