Gothenburg takes “million region” to Cannes

When Gothenburg visits this year’s MIPIM property show in Cannes, it takes with it a new status of being a region with over one million residents.

“The population has increased by 150,000 people since the year 2000. We are fast-growing and are actually one of the leading regions in Europe in terms of growth,” says Henrik Einarsson, head of department establishment and investment at Business Region Göteborg.

Behind Gothenburg’s stand at MIPIM is a collaboration involving 27 companies, including local and regional developers. Together they will showcase the region’s vast offering of property developments, including River City, northern Europe’s largest urban development project.

“Gothenburg is experiencing a construction boom and the opportunities for investors and actors within construction and urban development are tremendous,” says Andreas Göthberg, head of FDI at Business Region Göteborg and project leader for Gothenburg at MIPIM.

Gothenburg’s stand at MIPIM is located at P1-J24. Among other things, it features a 3-D model of River City, films and information on property developments in the region as well as meeting rooms. Gothenburg has also arranged a number of activities during MIPIM (see programme), including a joint seminar with Stockholm and Malmö on Innovative Urbanization by Sweden
